Omar Abu El-Hana

Omar Abu El-Hana is an Egyptian oud player and contemporary classical composer based in the Netherlands. Rooted in Arabic music and shaped by modern compositional techniques, his work bridges the emotional depth of tradition with the innovation of today’s sound world. After studying composition at the Cairo Conservatory under Amr Okba, Omar continued his artistic journey at ArtEZ Conservatory in Zwolle.

Together with pianist Omar Shendi, he co-founded Sirico a genre-defying music duo that merges Arabic musical heritage with Western classical aesthetics. Through this collaboration, he seeks to create transformative performances that speak across cultures and generations.
